Some interesting facts about blood count and honey

Sister Evelyn who has cancer has been taking 1 tablespoon three times a day of our raw thyme honey since last summer on an empty stomach as her white blood cells were too high and the doctors were unable to consider giving her an operation or other treatment. Her consultant a few months ago asked her to keep taking the thyme honey (though other raw honeys do the same) as it has brought her white blood cells to normal when other medicines had not worked for her.

After doing some research have found on the honeypedia site that raw honey balances blood counts with no side effects unlike modern medicine. What raw honey does when taken regularly is if the blood count is low increases it and vice versa and keeps it normal as long as it is taken regularly and on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before meals.

Also raw honey balances increases heamoglobin and red blood cells as well as decreasing cholestorol.

honey and your body

According to studies at the University of Illinois and others, vitamins and minerals in raw honey can help reduce levels of “bad” cholesterol by taking 1 teaspoon of raw honey daily.

A Dutch study showed that warm milk can calm and help combat sleep problems. Adding raw Honey also plays an important role in this classic cure, for the amino acid tryptophan in the milk to work, it needs insulin. Insulin is made in the body when we eat something sweet and by adding honey to the milk it increases insulin which then releases serotonin.  Our body then  converts serotonin into melatonin, a chemical compound that regulates the length and quality of sleep.  By putting a spoonful of honey in your warm milk and drinking it every night you will find that you have a better nights sleep.

Eating raw honey on a empty stomach helps to fight bacteria due to its antibacterial properties – taking a spoonful of raw honey when you first wake up and not eating for an hour will help or before going to sleep but you need to not eat 2hrs before going to sleep so it is taken on an empty stomach.

Research shows that the antioxidants in raw honey can prevent arteries from becoming blocked therefore can help to reduce a number of cardiovascular diseases.

A teaspoon of raw honey a day on an empty stomach can help to keep the doctor away for many illnesses.

Raw honey is an excellent substitute to sugar, as it keeps the blood sugar even and can even help you lose weight. Raw honey contains vitamin B6, folic acid, vitamin C, iron, calcium, sodium, zinc, potassium and phosphorus, and minerals that are known to speed up your metabolism.

MacNahl’s raw rosemary honey is not infused as the hives have been put in the fields of rosemary for the season hence its light colour and it’s very fine and unique taste with almost a hint of rosemary.

bee brain size

A bee brain is about the size of a sesame seed and are  capable of some surprisingly high levels of communication, memory and navigation. Bees learn and memorise navigation routes in complex landscapes requiring the ability to detect, distinguish and integrate a multitude of chemical, visual, landmark and celestial cues.  Honey bees have 170 odorant receptors, compared with only 62 in fruit flies and 79 in mosquitoes. They have exceptional olfactory abilities which means they can recognise their own kin signals, social communication within the hive, and odor recognition for finding food. Their sense of smell is so precise that it could differentiate hundreds of different floral varieties and tell whether a flower carried pollen or nectar from metres away.

A honey bee can fly for up to six miles, and as fast as 15 miles per hour.

With such a titchy brain the bee sure packs in a lot of intelligence and work and good memory.

bad flu virus – update

My last post we were worried about my mum (who is 87) who had been suffering from pneumonia since last november and the bad flu virus. Since starting her with the honeycomb twice a day and two teaspoons of honey at night she is much much better. Her chest is better and the colour has finally returned to her and no longer is she pillywally.  She has more energy now and is up and shopping and cooking (she likes experimenting with new recipes she sees on the tv) like she used to, though she gets tired easily definitely she is much much better.  She is also back to reading online the news which she had not whilst ill and back to reading books.  The cough mixtures did not work and i stopped them once she started on the honey and honeycomb. I feel bad that i was not here but in india whilst she was very ill but thank goodness for the honey.

It took two weeks of honey treatment for my mum to really start to get better compared to all the antibiotics and cough mixtures she had for two months to no avail. We noticed less coughing instantly once she started taking the honey before sleeping meaning she finally got a good nights sleep to enable her to start healing.

Honey is a natural antibiotic and has been used for centuries for coughs and colds and other ailments.

When in India there was a small hive in the garden before we could even think about it suddenly it was on the table being cut up into small pieces for all the family to eat. Totally unexpected and very very delicious.

This is quite scary the present flu virus is killing over 4,000 Americans a week – you read right a week! Not only that but only 10% of the flu virus actually works this is very worrying.

from bloomberg below:

“There were 40,414 deaths in the U.S. during the third week of 2018, the most recent data available, and 4,064 were from pneumonia or influenza, according to the CDC data. The number for that week is expected to rise more reports are sent to the agency.

It gets worse. The death toll in future weeks is expected to grow even higher because flu activity is still rising—and the number of deaths follow the flu activity. Hospitalization rates are already approaching total numbers seen at the end of the flu season, which may not be for months.”

bad flu virus – killing people from complications arising not flu bug

This winter season of 2017/2018 the flu virus has been very very bad so many people dying not from the flu virus itself but from complications arising from it. We would advise people not to eat outside for a few months as there is no guarantee that the cook or waiter is not infected and a sneeze or cough travels a long way in the air.

The family has been down with the flu since mid-January though my 87 year old mother has had it on and off since november when she returned from Australia. As i was away in India when she became ill was unable to start the honey treatment.  My brother was giving her fresh ginger and lemon and honey to drink but still she was not getting better and her wheezing and coughing was unabated. So started her off as well now with two teaspoons of #rawhoney before sleeping – though what i found worked was one teaspoon of one of the #rawhoney’s which had started to crystallise funnily enough and a teaspoon of one that had not.  Alhumdullilah her coughing spasms are almost gone as the honey coated her throat overnight. Have also started her off with honey chewing gum (we only have a limited supply but honeycomb is just as good) a teaspoon (normally we advise 1/4 teaspoon but these are not normal flu times) twice a day this has helped her wheezing considerably and will strengthen her chest long term. She did not like chewing it for half an hour as she prefers honeycomb (will start her on that once the honey chewing gum runs out) so had to sit with her to ensure she did for it to work.  Also a teaspoon of honey first thing when she wakes up.

Will keep everyone informed on progress as after five days of this treatment i can see an improvement but still many days to go to get her back to full health.

For myself i have been taking the two teaspoons of #rawhoney at night before bed and when i wake up it has helped quite a bit.  All the studies about taking the honey overnight before sleeping seem to be correct as i did not get a sore throat and it helped alleviate my flu considerably though now to tackle the chest – honeycomb or honey chewing gum which one that is the dilemma.
