We have decided to add some of our herbal remedies which have been tried and tested over the decades within our family and friends and colleagues. All remedies are on our wee blog.

 

Fenugreek and Licorice teabags –

two people – 4 teabags – £2.00

small family – 10 teabags – £3.50

Large Family – 20 teabags – £4.50

These teabags are great for coughs or if anyone has lots of phlegm.  Put one teabag into 2 cups of water and boil for 10 minutes and keep topping up the pan when water goes down so level is same as before boiling. Take for four days divide into 1/4 cups and drink very warm twice a day and repeat once more for another 4 days.  2 teabags are sufficient for one person for the whole 8 days of cough remedy treatment. If after 8 days there is still a lingering cough stop for 5 days then repeat as above.

Our family and friends have been using this remedy for decades whenever we have a cough that is hard to shift or just when we have a cough and also whenever we have had phlegm as it shifts is really well.

A herbal remedy that has been used in Asia for centuries to combat persistent and hard to get rid of coughs and phlegm. Two teabags is all is needed per person as this lasts 8 days and a reduction is seen within two to three days of the cough and it is all natural.

This remedy is safe for children also for dogs and cats.  Please note give half the amount to dogs and cats per day

In Islamic literature, it is considered as one of the greatest forms of healing medicine. It has been recommended for using on regular basis in Tibb-e-Nabwi (Prophetic Medicine). It has been widely used as antihypertensive, liver tonic, diuretic, digestive, anti-diarrheal, appetite stimulant, analgesic and anti-bacterial. Extensive studies on N. sativa have been carried out by various researchers and a wide spectrum of its pharmacological actions have been explored which may include anticancer, immunomodulator, analgesic, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, spasmolytic, bronchodilator, hepato-protective, renal protective, gastro-protective, antioxidant properties, etc. Due to its miraculous power of healing, N. sativa has got the place among the top ranked evidence based herbal medicines. Also most of the therapeutic properties of this plant are due to the presence of thymoquinone which is a major bioactive component of the essential oil.

Take a tip of a teaspoon of kalonji powder, a tip of a teaspoon of black pepper powder and add to one teaspoon of honey – mix well and take first thing in the morning and same again before sleeping. If you have symptoms of the coronavirus take six times a day for two to four weeks divide equally amongst the day then go down to twice a day.

Black pepper is rich in a plant compound called piperine, studies have found to have potent antioxidant properties. Piperine suppresses inflammation in the airways caused by asthma and seasonal allergies. Only small amount should be taken of black pepper

Fenugreek Seeds 70g

Fenugreek is a really good cough mixture (Fenugreek clears mucus and lessens your urge to cough).  It increases milk production in breastfeeding mothers.  Some of its other benefits are for those who suffer from inflammatory conditions, indigestion, constipation, high blood pressure, diabetes, painful menstrual cramps, toxicity, anaemia, obesity, arthritis, and fever.

Ajwain (Carom) Seeds 50g

Ajwain seeds have powerful antibacterial and antifungal properties this could be because two of its active compounds, thymol and carvacrol, which have been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. There is also evidence to show that evidence that carom seeds may help fight peptic ulcers and improve indigestion. Take 7 seeds after eating and chew well before swallowing this will help against reflux and heartburn.
